UEFA very hard sanction to David Cooote, an English referee dismissed last December of the Premier after an investigation in which he accused of consuming cocaine and seriously insulting Klopp. The collegiate recorded a video in which he called “Gilipollas and arrogant” to the former ‘Red’ coach and subsequently spread it in networks. Then, a video was leaked in which he appeared consuming cocaine.
Now, UEFA has announced the punishment imposed on the former collegiate. You will not be able to arbitrate a match until June 30, 2026. A year and a half will spend in the ‘Nevera’ for its statements and for the video in which it was appreciated how cocaine consumed. Cooote expressed in the video where he insulted Klopp, who “had no interest in talking to someone so arrogant.” At the time the suspension was deliberated, Cooote himself arbitrated the Liverpool that same day.
After finishing the investigation, the Premier League decided to say goodbye to the 42 -year -old referee. The Committee of Collegiate of the English League also contributed a report where there was a record that Cooote himself was involved in the organization of parties after the meetings in which these types of substances were present.
The referee was already suspended by the insults issued against Klopp and against Liverpool
This event took place before a 2024 Eurocup match. In a subsequent interview with The Sun, the referee declared himself Gay and pointed out the fight to hide his sexuality that affected him throughout his career. On the insults to Klopp, Cooote apologized to the German. “I want to apologize to him because I deeply regret what I said.”
The English also received death threats once these statements appeared in the middle. Cooote added that “he felt ashamed when the video was leaked and that he did it because for him it was an escape in his daily life.”
UEFA considered that David Cooper breached and discredited the rules of football. In his sentence, the agency establishes before English the prohibition of arbitrating any football meeting until June 30, 2026
