Toprak Razgatlioglu signed a great triplet in Portimao in the Superbike World Cup. The Turk submitted Bulega in each test. Nicolò made the ‘hat trick’ in Australia and BMW’s has replicated in Portugal. Álvaro Bautista replied from his Saturday KO with two podiums.
Superpole race
In the superpole race, the Turk came out only regular. Bulega and Petrucci sneaked. The Ottoman passed quickly, on the line, Danilo and studied Nicolò until he exceeded him in the absence of six turns. Toprak was firm in his rhythm and did not allow the Italian to have the opportunity to launch into advance. However, Busta forced in the last lap and stuck to him to seek to pass him in the same goal. Razgatlioglu covered enough to win, for just 55 thousandths.
Bautista left ninth, but made a very good start, which put sixth after few angles. Álvaro went to Sam Lowes, Locatelli and Petrucci to perch podium. Vierge was eighth after fighting with Van der Mark; Lecuona, Ninth and Tito Rabat, 18º.
Carrera 2 … stop
In race 2, Bulega won the game to Razgatlioglu at the exit. Bautista was third, the same place where he left. Petrucci dropped from 4th to 17th.
Van der Mark attacked Locatelli and engaged in a fight, which gave meters to Álvaro, who did not want to lose the wake of the head duo.
Iannone was punished with a sanction to pass twice through the ‘Long Lap’ area for skipping.
Tito Rabat went to the ground in curve 13. He went in front and lost his scoring options.
Soon it was Xavi Vierge who crashed. A pity because he was sixth and had given good feelings these days in Portugal.
Above, Nicolò forced because he wanted to avoid struggles with Toprak, but the BMW responded. This made Bautista stay. Redding had a breakdown and went to Boxes.
O’Halloran fell at the first angle and the commissioners took the red flag due to the bad conditions of the air defense in that area. The Australian, substitute for Jonathan Rea, who was visiting, was fine. Everything stopped and returned to their boxes.
Another sprint
The new race would be 11 laps, with a grill in which the first line was formed by Bulga, Razgatlioglu and Bautista. Another sprint for everyone.
In the new start, ‘Bulegas’ maintained the first place and the ‘surprise’ arrived with Locatelli, who put a second surpassing Razgatlioglu and Bautista.
Toprak saw the danger and exceeded ‘crazy’. Iannone was penalized with a ‘Though’ (passing through the ‘Pit Lane’ for not having spent a second time through the ‘Long Lap’. Andrea fulfilled it and then left with a tremendous anger. I did not agree with the punishment.
The Turk aggressively passed to Bulega to take the lead. Almost at that point, Bautista also left Locatelli behind.
But the Italian wanted war. He used the rebuff to return the Ottoman last. Álvaro was close in case he could ‘fish’ something. However, the Talaverano could not follow the great rhythm of the duo he commanded.
The hostilities soon began, with passes and reviewed between the two, in the style of race 1 on Saturday. In the absence of four laps, Razgatlioglu calculated his overtaking of the superpole’s career, in curve 3, and then resisted in 1, the attempt to overcome him from Bulega by Rebufo. Remy Gardner fell into full battle with her partner Aegerter.
The current champion made a very good penultimate turn, which allowed him to take a few meters that prevented Nicolò from getting over. Razgatlioglu certified his triplet, the second followed in Portimao and the seventh of his entire career in Superbike. Bautista concluded third, with Lecuona, eighth.
