The PGA Tour starts the year with a great tournament: these are the most important dates of 2025

With the arrival of The Sentry in Kapalua (Hawaii), a new year begins on the PGA Tour. The news of the tournament are the absences of Scottie Scheffler and Viktor Hovland due to domestic accidents. The first suffered glass cuts in the palm of his hand and the second broke his little finger after a 24-hour trip from Norway to Maui to be present at the event. Unfortunately, the European will have to remain in dry dock for a few weeks.

The field is only 60 players and without a cut. Before, it was called the Tournament of Champions, since only the winners of the previous year competed in it. Now these and the 30 best from the 2024 FedEx Cup final do it. Chris Kirk defends the title this week. There are many names to follow and it is a favorable tournament to check the evolution of growing players such as Nick Dunlap, Ludvig Aberg or Harry Hall, but also to test the Schauffele, Morikawa, Cantlay, Homa, Clark, Thomas or Matsuyama , among others.

Although he is not part of the cast this week, Scheffler is the man to beat this campaign. And it must be remembered that this year there is a new exemption category that allows Tiger Woods to play in any high event and is simply added to the field, without taking away a place from a qualified player or one of the guests of the tournament sponsors.
