Six people, including a one-year-old child, were injured in a road accident involving three vehicles in Thane, Maharashtra, early Sunday morning, officials said.
The crash happened around 1:26 AM at Cadbury Junction Bridge on the Eastern Express Highway, a key route connecting Mumbai and Nashik, according to Yasin Tadvi, head of Thane Municipal Corporation’s disaster management cell.
How the Accident Happened
A dumper truck carrying sand was traveling from Mulund Check Naka to Kasheli when the driver lost control. The truck crashed into another truck, which then hit a car moving ahead. The car was traveling from Marine Drive, Mumbai, to Anand Nagar on Ghodbunder Road in Thane.
Two people inside the car got stuck.
Rescue and Traffic Disruption
Emergency teams, including firefighters and disaster management personnel, arrived quickly to help. It took about an hour to rescue all six car passengers, including three children. They were rushed to a private hospital for treatment.
Traffic on the route was blocked for nearly an hour. Vehicles were redirected to a service road, causing delays. Later, officials moved all damaged vehicles to the side, and traffic returned to normal.
Police Action
The dumper driver ran away after the accident. Police have registered a case against him under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Motor Vehicles Act. A search is ongoing to find him.
