Seko Fofana leaves Al Ettifaq and returns to France to play for Stade Rennes

A top-level signing for Jorge Sampaoli and his Stade Rennes. Seko Fofana returns to Ligue 1 in a €20 million transfer from Al Ettifaq.

The one who was one of the best players in Ligue 1 in the 2022/23 season, leading Lens to a historic participation in the Champions League, returns to France. He didn’t fit into the Saudi league at any time… and at 29 years old he returned to French football.

He played half a season for Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr, alternating starts with substitutes. Later, he went to Steven Gerrard’s Al Ettifaq… but he didn’t shine there either. Now he returns to France in a definitive transfer operation in exchange for 20 million euros.
