Scottie Scheffler sweeps and achieves his eighth victory of 2024

If there’s one thing fans can fault Scottie Scheffler for, it’s that he makes golf look like an easy sport. The level shown this week in the Hero World Challenge for the world number, especially in the fourth round, has been such that it gives the impression that it was not difficult for him to prevail. His game was worthy of the best Tiger, the host of the tournament, to the point that he won with a six-stroke advantage, after signing a 63 to say goodbye, and with a cumulative score of 263 (-25).

The American played millimeters in Albany GC (Bahamas) on the very day that the wind was most uncomfortable. Scottie managed to put the ball where he wanted on each hole of this final round. Currently he is the best from tee to green and if the putting also accompanies him like these days, he becomes unbeatable. Scheffler has made 27 birdies and only two bogeys throughout the tournament. Neither Tom Kim nor Justin Thomas (he came out as the leader) have been able to face the golf kingpin; neither did Bathia or Bradley, who started with options.

For Scheffler, the first player to successfully defend The Players, a magical year closes with eight victories, including the Masters, the Tour Championship and Olympic gold. This course ends like the last one, winning the HWC. It is true that it is an event in which only 20 players participate (it does not count towards the PGA history), but probably no one would have beaten the world number one today.
