The Premier League referee association (PGMOL) has suspended one of its members for appearing in a video calling Jürgen Klopp an “asshole” and “arrogant”.
The video, of which the date is unknown and which shows the Premier League referee David Coote insulting Klopp, is being investigated by the English competition and in it you can see the referee, along with another person, insulting the former coach of the Liverpool until last summer.
“He’s an asshole, an absolute asshole. In addition to what he did to me in a match against Burnley during the pandemic, he accused me of lying. I have no interest in talking to someone so fucking arrogant. I’ll do my best not to talk to him “You German asshole, damn it,” Coote said in the video, which has been circulating on social media since Sunday.
Coote’s partner in the video adds: “Long story short, Klopp is an asshole, at Liverpool they are assholes and we hate them.” In another recording, Coote asks that the other video not be shared. “He can’t go anywhere, seriously,” he says, to which his partner adds: “He’s a Premier League referee, let’s not ruin his career.”
This Saturday, Coote refereed Liverpool’s 2-0 victory against Aston Villa, in which those from Birmingham ended up very angry because a possible penalty on Pau Torres was not called with the score at 1-0.
“David Coote has been suspended with immediate effect, pending a full investigation,” the PGMOL said in a statement.
