Nuno’s Forest surprises everyone… and reminds us of a great player from the 70s and 80s

Forest is a very particular club. Located in Nottingham (in the geographical center of England), they are experiencing golden weeks after achieving their sixth consecutive victory on Monday and placing themselves, with their coach Nuno Espírito Santo, in third place in the table, tied with second (Arsenal) and with six points less than the leader Liverpool, who also has one less game.

Nuno’s Forest is surprising everyone. With a team that only finished 17th last season (the first to be saved) and with an investment of 105 million in the summer (Elliot Anderson was their biggest expense with 41.2 ‘kilos’), Forest has a balance of 12- 4-4. Nuno’s men have fallen to Fulham, Newcastle, Arsenal and City and are the only Premier team that has been able to defeat the untouchable Liverpool (0-1)

Forest is such a particular club that it has more European Cups (1979 and 1980) than English Leagues (1978), apart from two Cups (1898 and 1959… and is still alive in this one); and four League Cups (the last in ’90, which was their last official title).

Nuno arrived on December 20, 2023 (last season) to shore up Forest’s campaign after being dismissed at Saudi – he was the coach who preceded Marcelo Gallardo in Benzema’s team). A coach with experience in the Premier (Wolves and Tottenham), but who was on the decline. Now he has revitalized Forest.

Does it have big stars? Well no. With only one Spaniard (Alex Moreno, who alternates ownership at left back with Neco Williams), Nuno’s eleven does not have any bright names, which gives more merit to the club. His references are footballers bounced from English teams: Elanga (exUnited); Gibbs-White (ex-Wolves); Hudson-Oddoi (exChelsea); or the New Zealander Wood (exNewcastle), the striker of the Nottingham eleven.

A Forest that wants to continue surprising and remembering the great Forest of the 70-80s, a team that added many football fans of yesteryear in these years, and who follow the surprising current Forest.
