Nepal’s cricket team is set to face off against host nation Canada in a crucial World Cup League 2 match today, September 16th. The game will commence at 8:00 PM Nepal Standard Time at the King City ground in Canada.
This match marks the beginning of Nepal’s participation in the triangular ODI series to be held in Canada, where they will also play two matches against Oman.
Nepal’s return to World Cup League 2 action comes after a seven-month hiatus. Their last match was played in February at the TU Cricket Ground against Namibia.
Following their match against Canada today, Nepal will play their second match against Canada on September 22nd and Oman on September 18th and 24th.
After the ODI series, Nepal will also compete in a T20 series with Canada and Oman. Additionally, they are scheduled to play two one-day practice matches against either Canada or their A team.
Post-series, Nepal will travel to the United States for more League 2 matches, including both triangular and T20I series against the USA and Scotland.
Canada has announced a 16-member squad for the games to be held in Canada and the United States, and Jagat Tamta has been appointed as a consultant coach.
Nepal’s primary objective is to secure the top position in League 2 and become the number one associate nation. To achieve this, they must consistently win matches away from home.
Having played only four matches, Nepal currently occupies the seventh position in the table with 2 points. In their previous matches, they suffered two losses against Namibia at the TU Cricket Ground but managed to win one and lose one against the Netherlands. The Netherlands currently leads the points table.
