Franco Morbidelli led the Qatar MotoGP practice, which marks those who go straight to fight for Pole. Bagnaia and Marc Márquez reserved at the end, but went to Q2 without problems. Ducati exhibition and problems for Aprilia, despite the return of the current champion and number 1, Jorge Martín.
The temperature was very different, with 27 degrees in the environment and ‘only’ 34 in the asphalt, already with the night and the spotlights.
As in the first free, the Octocampeón set the pattern again at the beginning. It took little to reduce his morning chrono, already going to 1:51. It was with middle front and soft tire.
Somkiat Chantra crashed with the sling. Jorge Martín was leaving in curve 1, but he could control everything in the asphalt escape. Dr. Charte was attentive to him in the Box of April.
Several continued rolling with half -rubber, thinking more about the rhythm for both races. In that, Álex Márquez stood out, which is noticed with confidence in a track he likes. He also got out of 1:52, although his compounds were new.
The Gresini already put the soft behind to overcome his brother when half of the session was reached. Of course, Marc, with the medium, almost matched him shortly.
Augusto Fernández, a substitute for Miguel Oliveira, who is present in Lusil, fell into the curve 4. He lost the front train of his Yamaha of the premium Pramac. The Balearic will run as a guest in Jerez.
Pecco Bagnaia also gave symptoms of being well, because it was allowed to reduce the chrono of his teammate with the same middle tires.
Forcing, but not quite
In the absence of 18 minutes the show of the attempts to a return for everyone began.
Bagnaia was the first to get out of 1:51. It was quite approaching, two tenths, from Jorge Martín’s record, 2024. Marc was left to 22 thousandths, with Morbidelli in third position and Álex Márquez, fourth.
Martinator, infiltrated, went out to make an attempt, but had to abort; I was nothing comfortable.
Jack Miller accidented in curve 7, at high speed. It already fell into the initial free. Chantra had a great scare at the second angle, but saved the incident.
Pecco and Marc surprised with a different strategy: they put medium back rubber in their final batch. They thus opted for not forcing more to see that their time was already very good. They postponed the fight for Q2 and saved a soft tire for that session.
That gave the option to others. It was taken advantage of by Franco Morbidelli, who beat those of the official Ducati team, to the joy of Valentino Rossi, his mentor and owner of the VR46, present in the circuit.
Zarco sneaked at the last minute in the ‘Top 10’ with Rins as the victim. Álex Márquez advanced Bagnaia, who did not like the action. Binder fell into the initial angle following Marc.
The ten who go to Q2 are: Morbidelli, Bagnaia, Marc Márquez, Di Giannantonio, Álex Márquez, Quartararo, Acosta, Viñales, Aldeguer and Zarco. Therefore, all the Ducati, two KTM, one Yamaha, a Honda and no April.
To the Q1 Iran: Rins, Marini, Mir, Binder, Ogura, Bastianini, Miller, Raúl Fernández, Bezzecchi, Jorge Martín, Augusto Fernández and Chantra.
Moto3 and Moto2
In Moto3, the doctors declared ‘not suitable’ to Adrián Cruces, who fractured his left foot after a fall in the first free. The Valencian supplied Marcos Uriarte. Bertelle is low and has no substitute. Maximum Quiles is also injured and Joel Esteban will replace him, called emergency. The leader dominated. The 14 that were classified for direct Q2 are: Rueda, Yamanaka, Piqueras, Foggia, Riccardo Rossi, David Muñoz, Carpe, Furusato, Carraro, Lunetta, Ogden, Pini, Kelso and Buasri. To the Q1: Roulstone, Adrián Fernández, Almansa, Buchanan, O’Shea, Nepa, Moodley, Perrone and Dettwiler.
In Moto2, great benefits of the loafer and unimportant fall of the dixon leader. The ‘Top 14’ was for: Manu González, Canet, Holgado, Öncü, Arenas, Van Den Goorbergh, Baltus, Ramírez, David Alonso, Dixon, Alonso López, Huertas, Aji and Darryn Binder. To the Q1: Navarro, Veijer, Agius, Moreira, Guevara, Salac, Escrig, Roberts, Sasaki, Ortolá, Arbolino, Vietti, Kunii and Sergio García Dols, which reappears.
