Mcilory resists the fight for The Players, with Spaun of leader and a wind that destroyed everyone

At the beginning of the week, televisions dreamed with a Championship Players that had Rory Mcilory and Scottie Scheffler, perhaps accompanied by someone like Morikawa or Justin Thomas on Sunday. However, the wind was in charge of destroying cards and putting everyone in place, so there are no longer so many names that have ‘survived’. The current leader JJ Spaun was the player of the last ten groups to leave that he played lower: he made 70 (-2). The strong strong wind and the constant bursts wreaked havoc.

Bud Cauley left two hours before and, although he faced an adverse climate, ended with three birdies in his last four holes for a 66 that will allow him this Sunday to be in the final group. Lucas Glover’s last holes were crazy, although he ended up signing 71 blows. He made double bogey in 15, an Eagle with a chip in torque 5 of 16 and a double bogey with an exit blow that did not reach the island in the famous torque 3 of 17.

Another example of the agitated in the afternoon was Will Zalatoris, who was briefly tied in the lead when he stepped on the Tee of 14. He played the last five holes in +9: a quadruple bogey in 14, a double bogey in 15, a ball in the water in the 17 for double bogey and a bogey in the last. In total, 78.

Rory Mcilroy made Birdie in the last hole to save a 73 and perhaps its possibilities, only four blows from the leader. The two -time Defensor Scottie Scheffler was not so lucky at the end. It was well aimed at approaching the head, but in the 16 he went to bunker, then to another bunker under a big tree and ended with a bogey. Then in 17 he failed the putt and signed 72 blows. It was not bad, but insufficient. Scottie still gives some opportunity: “I am a little frustrated with the result, but I hope to start better tomorrow and reverse the situation.”
