Rodrigo Hernández, recent winner of the Ballon d’Or, will be honored this Saturday before his team’s match, Manchester City, against Tottenham Hotspur on the Etihad Stadium lawn.
The Madrid footballer, who has been traveling through Spain these days, received the Ballon d’Or a few weeks ago, ahead of the Brazilian Vinícius Júnior in the voting, and this Saturday he will return to his stadium to receive a tribute.
Rodri will be received on the grass next to the award, which credits him as the first player in the history of the ‘Sky Blues’ to achieve it.
City has asked its fans to be in their seats twenty minutes before the game and has offered to print Rodri’s name for free on all shirts purchased these days and until Sunday.
Rodri is currently recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament injury he suffered in a draw against Arsenal. The initial forecast was that he would miss the entire season, but the midfielder wants to be available for the new FIFA Club World Cup that will be played between June and July.
