LaLiga was rejoined this Thursday to European Leagues during its 50 general assembly held in Frankfurt (Germany), where Swiss Claudius Schafer was elected president and Javier Thebas member of the Board of Directors for the 2025-2029 cycle.

The Assembly, which brought together representatives of 40 Leagues from Europe, renewed their management bodies, after the Portuguese Pedro Proença left the presidency recently when elected president of the Federation of Portugal and also approved the readmission of the Spanish League as an ordinary member, after ceasing to be part of the collective in 2023.

“It is a privilege for me to be president of the European Leagues. We have several challenges ahead, but I am sure that, with unity and intense cooperation, we will continue to safeguard and develop national football in this environment of rapid changes, while we will contribute to improve the governance of the game in the interest of all the interested parties in football,” said Claudius Shafer after his choice.

In a statement, European Leagues confirmed that its Board of Directors until 2029 will have, in addition to the president, with Mathieu Moreuil (English League) as vice president, and as members with Javier Tebas (LaLiga), Lorin Parys (Belgian League), Claus Thomsen (Liga de Denmark), Benjamin Viard (French League), Marc Lenz From Servant (Italian League Series A), Paolo Bedin (Italian B Series), JAN de Jong (Dutch League), Marcin Animaki (Poland League), Neil Doncaster (Liga de Scotia) and Michal Mertinyak (Slovakia League).
