SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — North County Transit District has announced an expansion of COASTER service to make it easier and safer for fans to get to and from Petco Park on Padres game days.

The revamped service will add 70 new trips during the season, with COASTER 699 departing from Santa Fe Depot Platform 1 one hour after every game, the North County Transit District announced in a statement.

This expanded service will also cover special events such as fireworks displays, according to the release.

Padres enthusiasts can transfer from COASTER to the Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) Trolley using a COASTER Regional Pass.

Many COASTER stations offer free parking options, making it a convenient option for fans to get to the game.

The Padres are set to take on the Atlanta Braves in their home opener at 1:10 p.m. on Thursday at Petco Park.
