Haaland: “Guardiola is probably the best coach that has ever existed on Earth”

The Manchester City players left with their national teams, leaving behind an atypical scenario. Four consecutive defeats (two in the Premier, one in the Champions League and elimination in the Carabao Cup), something never seen under Pep’s tenure at the club, created an atmosphere of concern that does not seem to have affected his players. Or at least not to Erling Haaland.

The English club makes official the extension of the commitment that expired in the summer of 2025

The Norwegian forward has given an interview to Sky Sports in which he talks about his team’s negative streak and the importance of the renewed Pep Guardiola in the club’s successes. Haaland de-dramatizes the crisis: “It’s not that big of a deal, not even that we were relegated. We’re still in second place, we still have many games left.”

And what has been Guardiola’s role during this streak? Transmit calm. “It’s been quiet. We haven’t given enough and we’ve lost four games, but we’re going to try to win the next one. We’re going to focus on today’s training, tomorrow’s training and then on the game,” says Haaland.

The City scorer then praises his boss, his management of the team and his working method: “He is the best coach in the world and I think we all know it. And he is probably the best that has ever existed on Earth. “He always wants everything to be perfect. What makes him different? The hunger, how much he wants to develop the players and of course how much he wants to win football games.”

Pep renewed… and next is Haaland?

“I hope Pep signs a new contract,” Erling Haaland said a few days ago from the Norwegian camp. “It has been important for me in the first two and a half years. I hope you stay longer. “I really like Pep and I hope he likes me too,” he added.

Once City has sealed the renewal of the coach, the club’s next step will be to close the Norwegian’s continuity. As reported by the English media, City are offering 500,000 pounds (600,000 euros) per week to Haaland. That means that he would earn more than 30 million euros a year and would become the Premier League player who earns the most, overtaking his teammate Kevin de Bruyne.

But there is a knot in the negotiation: the termination clause. Right now the price of that clause is 150 million pounds (180 million euros). City want to eliminate her, but the player’s agents want to keep her. Daily Mirror points to a possible intermediate solution: that the termination clause increases to 200 million pounds (240 million euros). The ball is in Erling’s court.
