Rúben Amorim has already shown that age is not an impediment. Up to 27 players debuted under him at Sporting CP.
At Manchester United he could have already ‘sponsored’ his particular Pau Cubarsí: Godwill Kukonki (Stoke-on-Trent, 6-2-2008). The young center back, 16 years old, has trained, for the first time, under the command of Amorim – used to playing with three centre-backs – with the ‘red devils’ first team.

In England, however, they establish another parallel with Kukonki. The fact that he is left-footed and can also act as a left-back has led to comparisons with Josko Gvardiol.
“He is a physically imposing left-footed centre-back, with a strong presence off the ball who can defend large spaces, while also possessing solid technical skills. He is only 16 years old, but he is a monster for his age. Yoro is right-footed and Kukonki is left-footed. We could have on our hands two of the centre-backs with the most future,” suggests ‘AliceTalksFooty’.
He’s only 16 years old, but he’s a monster for his age.
Kukonki, 1.96 meters tall, has grown by leaps and bounds this season. And not only physically. He began the season in the under 18 team, in which he is a key player, either as a center back or left back. He has contributed with a goal and an assist to make his team an outstanding leader with full victories – nine out of nine -, 43 goals for and four against.

He has also made his debut in the Youth League with the under 19: he provided an assist in the rout of Zalgiris (2-5). The cherry on top came a month ago, with his debut with the U21s in the 3-2 victory over Forest Green. He could make matters worse if he takes the alternative with the elders. Just in case, write down his name: Godwill Kukonki.
