Paul Waring continues like a shot after two rounds played in the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, the first of the DP World Tour playoffs. The Englishman, who scored 61 strokes (-11), the lowest round of his life and also the record of Yas Links. But there is even more merit in the fact that his -19 is the lowest score compared to par in the history of the DPWT after 36 holes of the tournament.

Waring, who made nine birdies and an eagle, is five strokes ahead of his compatriot Tommy Fleetwood, the American Johannes Veerman and the Danish couple Thorbjorn Olesen and Niklas Norgaard. Waring’s level is spectacular, as he has only won once -Nordea Masters 2018- in his life on what was once known as the European Circuit.
The leader talked about his incredible shot on 18 that led to a birdie and called it “the best shot I’ve ever hit in my life.” The Englishman also commented: “Obviously I feel very good, making a great swing. The putter is performing well. I would say that is my weak point from time to time, but I have worked a lot on it and since I moved to Dubai, I am also very used to this style of greens.
Rory McIlroy continues with options with -10 in the accumulated, identical overall result as that of the best Spaniard, Alfredo García-Heredia. Adrián Otaegui, Ángel Hidalgo and Alejandro del Rey compute -8 after two rounds; Jorge Campillo, -5.
