David Coote, the referee suspended for insults against Jürgen Klopp and against Liverpool, is also being investigated for alleged drug use during the last European Championship in Germany.

The English referee, who has been in the Premier League since 2018, appears in an alleged video distributed by the British tabloid “The Sun” consuming a white substance through his nose. This incident occurred in a hotel in Germany one day after being a VAR assistant in the quarterfinal match between France and Portugal.

The video was recorded on WhatsApp and reached a friend of the referee, who spread it to “The Sun” as well as some of his comments, these without being recorded on video, such as that Liverpool will not win the Premier this season, that the Everton’s field is the worst place to referee because of the insults received and that Bournemouth are “too far away.”

Coote is suspended by the Premier League refereeing committee after appearing in a video in which he called Klopp an “asshole” and “arrogant.” The English federation could also sanction him for referring to Klopp’s German nationality in a derogatory tone.

In addition, UEFA withdrew Coote this week from one of his international commitments after the video went viral.
