Newcastle United’s Brazilian midfielder Bruno Guimarães gave an interview to Globo Esporte, where he expressed what it means to him to be an idol in Newcastle and spoke about Pep Guardiola’s interest and the possibility of signing for Manchester City.
The ‘citizen’ club, after Rodri’s injury, has accumulated four consecutive defeats. A bad streak that highlights the importance of the Spanish ‘Ballon d’Or’ and of a figure who acts as a midfielder, so, with the winter market just around the corner and the repeated links to the Brazilian player with the Mancunian team, new doubts arise about the footballer’s future.
In reference to the rumors about a possible departure, the Rio native clarified: “Generating interest from Manchester City shows that I am at a high level, but it is nothing more than interest. I know that Guardiola likes my football, it is normal to have great coaches who admire your game. We have talked once, I praised his work, he praised mine, but nothing more than that.”
Guimarães has a contract until June 30, 2028 at St. James’s Park, where he feels valued and happy: “I think that in my club I am an idol and very respected, I am the captain and it is something that if you asked me three years ago, “My biggest dream would be to play in the Premier League. Playing, being an idol, being captain is something wonderful. I really like Newcastle and I respect it a lot.”
