The BBC reports that a Premier League footballer has been questioned again by police and remains under investigation for allegedly raping three women and sexually assaulting a fourth between 2021 and 2023.
It was the first time he had been questioned about a rape allegation reported last year by a fourth woman.
It has been two and a half years since the Premier footballer was first arrested on suspicion of rape in July 2022.
Shortly after, he was arrested for a previous accusation of rape by a second woman, who reported him to the police in August 2021.
In February 2023 he was questioned about sexual assault allegations made by a third woman.
Five women accused the Premier League footballer of rape
This new interrogation of the Premier League footballer comes a year after the BBC News investigation that published that five women accused the Premier League player of rape, sexual assault or controlling behaviour.
“I didn’t want to exist in a world where rape accusations can be ignored”
Despite the women’s complaints against the footballer, the player has continued with his same Premier League club.
One of the complainants shared with the BBC that the lack of reaction from the footballer’s club and the Premier League led her to consider taking her own life: “I did not want to exist in a world where I am constantly reminded that rape accusations can always be ignored. and when you are talented enough.”
Another of the complainants assures that if the club had acted after the first complaint, she would not have been sexually assaulted.
