Los Angeles fires force PGA Tour to relocate Genesis Invitational

The Genesis Invitational, which was scheduled to be held Feb. 13-16 at Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, will take place at another club next month due to the most destructive fire in Los Angeles history. The Eaton and Palisades outbreaks, along with half a dozen others, have burned 16,000 hectares of the city and left 25 dead.

“In collaboration with Genesis, The Riviera Country Club and TGR Live, and out of respect for the situation, we have decided that the Genesis Invitational 2025 will be played at an alternative location the week of February 10-16. Information will be provided in the coming days updated on the venue and the tournament,” reads the PGA statement on its website.

Organizers have not yet revealed the new venue for the tournament organized by the Tiger Woods Foundation. The Genesis Invitational, one of the eight scoring events on the PGA Tour in 2025, has a prize pool of 20 million dollars (16.3 million euros).

“The PGA TOUR continues to focus on the safety and well-being of those affected by the unprecedented natural disaster in the greater Los Angeles area. We are grateful for the life-saving efforts and tireless work being done to end the tragic forest fires,” they added in the statement.
