Scheffler will remain on leave and will miss the AmEx… although a return date is set

Scottie Scheffler was missed last week on The Sentry. A top-level tournament without the outstanding world number 1 is not the same. What we also already know is that it will not make its debut this season next week at the American Express (January 16-19), another of the events that it had marked on its calendar. The Sony Open this week was not part of his plans.

Scheffler has updated his status through a message on his Instagram account and has specified that his right hand is not yet healed enough to be able to play next week at the TPC West. Of course, the Olympic champion commented that he remains “hopeful” to be able to play at the end of this month in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, that is, the next high-profile event on the PGA Tour calendar.

Recall that on December 27, Scheffler reported that he had undergone surgery after sustaining a puncture wound in the palm of his right hand, which was caused by broken glass while preparing Christmas dinner. It is about the palm on which the stick rests, so it is difficult to establish an exact return date. His goal in any case is Pebble Beach and if he achieves it he would have only missed two tournaments. He does not defend his title until the Arnold Palmer.
