Bernhard Langer accused of cheating to beat Tiger and Charlie Woods

During the 2024 PNC Championship, Tiger Woods and his son Charlie had a tough matchup with Bernhard Langer and his son Jason for the win. It was a dramatic tiebreaker between the two pairs that the Germans finally won.

The 36-hole scramble tournament was held at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club and both teams were tied at 15 under par 57, forcing a sudden death playoff. On the final hole, Bernhard Langer played from a forward tee, something that, according to the rules of the competition, is allowed.

Finally, the Langers ended up taking the victory, relegating the Woods to second place. This was supposed to be a moment of joy, but it quickly turned into controversy due to the accusations that began to rain from social networks accusing the Langer team of cheating.

The first to raise eyebrows about the Langers’ performance was journalist Paolo Uggetti, who suggested that they could have placed the ball in a bunker to gain an advantage: “We know these are scramble rules, but we need to have a conversation about how Langer literally “He put his ball in the bunker so he could hit it with the driver. The close-up camera didn’t do him any favors!” wrote the informant in X.

“He’s basically a cheater…why don’t people know that yet?” one of them wrote.

This comment caused other users to also publish ‘posts’ in which they joked about the Langers’ behavior. “He’s basically a cheater…why don’t people know this yet?” one wrote. Another also added: “He’s always been a guy on the edge. I still don’t like how he ‘doesn’t’ anchor his putter,” another concluded.
