Manchester City’s offer to renew Haaland… and disagreement with the termination clause

Manchester City has many fronts to resolve in the coming months. Haaland’s renewal may not be the most urgent, since the Norwegian has a contract until 2027, but the club is already working on his continuity. And, according to Daily Mirror in information that they call “exclusive”, he has already made an offer to his star.

According to this information, City offer 500,000 pounds (600,000 euros) per week to Haaland. That means that he would earn more than 30 million euros a year and would become the Premier League player who earns the most, overtaking his teammate Kevin de Bruyne.

If Haaland accepts the offer, and according to Daily Mirror the response has been positive, he would sign with the English champion until the 2028-2029 season. That is, two more seasons than what he currently has signed.

Of course, the English media points to a problem to be resolved: the footballer’s termination clause, which right now is 150 million pounds (180 million euros). City want to eliminate her, but the player’s agents want to keep her. Daily Mirror points to a possible intermediate solution: that the termination clause increases to 200 million pounds (240 million euros).

Haaland has won two Premier Leagues, a Champions League, a Golden Boot and two Premier League top scorer awards in his two seasons in a City shirt. Now he faces the third, with City immersed in some sporting problems, but still in the fight for the most important titles.

Trial, renewal of Guardiola…

Manchester City has a few months ahead that will define its future. He is pending trial for breach of financial regulations, which could even lead to his expulsion from the English league. And furthermore, in recent months the rumor has grown that the current season will be Guardiola’s last campaign on the citizen bench, something that is by no means confirmed, but is not ruled out either.

Added to all this is that a little over a month ago it was announced that Txiki Begiristain will leave his position as Director of Football at the end of the season. Troubled times for City, who at least want to tie up their big star until 2029.
